People like to be recognized, especially those who make the effort to reach your brand online. Talk to your followers, answer their questions, and involve them in your work.

Lesson 3: Don’t let your emotions get the better of you

Celebrity apologies and social media go hand in hand, especially with the rise of ‘cancel culture‘ user mentality. Nowadays, under the magnifying glass that is the Internet, notorious personalities issuing apology statements have become a kind of art.

It seems like every day someone new gets called out for saying or doing something problematic. So how can we your brand avoid the wrath of internet trolls, you ask?

Well, you could take a page from Chrissy Teegan’s book. In 2021, the model faced major backlash online for tweets that resurfaced from 2011 from her “trolling” TV personality Courtney Stoden. This is where the lesson really begins: avoid situations or say things that could land you in hot water. Being preventative is a lifesaver!

If you can’t avoid it; However, here’s something Chrissy did that your brand can do too!

Chrissy then issued an apology, stating, “There’s just no excuse for my past horrible tweets; I was a troll, period. And I’m so sorry.” What she did here is a prime example of a celebrity admitting to losing her cool on social media and then dealing with the repercussions.

As a brand, it’s crucial that you stay cool under pressure and post thoughtfully. Yes, you may have haters trying to bring you down online from time to time, but that’s life on social media. Remember to lift yourself up and not let your emotions get the better of you.
